The owners manual recommends this practice for the reason you mention, however I don't see why. Fuel can really only escape the tank if the engine is cranking. I have forgotten to turn it back on several times (freaks me out when it starts stalling) so now I don't even bother shutting it off anymore.

hmm... my 09 does'nt have one...problay cause it runs on vaccum...
