2005 800 noise
I was riding my bike pretty hard a couple weekends ago through all sorts of terrains but mainly deep water. and after the weekend was over it was making a pretty nasty grinding/clacking/ticking noise while decelertating. I checked it out and found that the rear diff was FULL of water and the bearings were toast, the left side cv was touching the housing. anyway i Took it apart, all looked good except seals and bearings, so i got everything, rebuilt it all re-installed it in the bike. and then tried it. still makes the noise but not quite as bad.
I found the tranny fluid has water in it. this bike is still relativley new to me so im not sure when the last time was it was changed. could the water be causing the noise? if the water is from me riding it that weekend then it hasnt been in there for very long so i probably havent broken anything. it still rides good and the tranny seems to work fine. is there an alternative to the polaris fluid for the tranny? and is it as sensitive to fluid amount and type as the front diff or do you just fill it level with the hole.
also, the rear driveshaft has alot of play at the tranny and the diff yokes. how do i fix this? the splines look good. im thinking the driveshaft may have something to do with my noise as well.
it also does it when cruising at slow speeds, and turning. it bucks and squeaks as well.
uneven tire pressures?
c/v joints?
Im open to ideas i dont want to drop 1000 bucks on a tranny and not have it fixed.
any help is appreciated guys.
