A-arm Breakage on the XP
I was at Hatfield McCoy for a 4 day ride and had a rear a-arm break. This is the second time the same a-arm broke only this time it caused the a-arm bracket which is welded to the frame to break off as well. There is a weak point where the torsion bar support is mounted onto the a-arm. The a-arm on the opposite side will be breaking soon as you can see the paint is chipped away at the same spot thus showing a weak point. Polaris won't warrant it as they say "what did you hit"...
Now i need to find a welder that i can take my machine to, disassemble that area, and have him do his job. Not to mention I had to ride an 01 magnum 500 for two days that beat the crap out of me,,lol

Sorry for the troubles man!! I gotta tell ya... I could fix that!!!
No issue for a good faber/welder!! Maybe its time to buy yourself one and learn how to use it!!
But don't just fix it, make it better!!

In the first pic, I see a grease fitting. In the second pic I see rust and an offset outer shell. Should the grease flow down the length of that tube if enough was pumped in?

I wouldn't call it normal, but my 97 SP500 frame/attachments were welded about seven times, my 05 SP500HO has been welded/beefed-up about four times, both had/have high miles, close to 15000mi. The first part to break was the rear stabilizer on both mach. I figured out on the 05 that the storage box puts a weak point in the frame. I eliminated it and gusseted the whole rear area, haven't had a problem since. Can-Am's frames are probably chrome-moly like Honda's, Polaris's are mild steel. After almost 40 years of Off-Roading,(Jeeps,Bikes),15 of those years on ATV's and almost 30,000mi. on two Polaris's I would never buy another one, I'll keep the one I have going, but when it gets beyond repair, no way another Polaris. I bought both of my machines new from different dealers, one dealer didn't have a clue about the product they where selling the other dealer was just plain ignorant. I don't know if I'll get into another mach, I'm 60 years old, If I do it will be another brand.
