E-Clip position on jet needle

I have a 2005 Sportsman 500 H.O. The E-Clip came off the jet needle in the carburetor. There are 5 grooves on the jet needle and I need to know what groove the E-Clip is suppoed to go on.

I believe the stock location is the center groove. On the old 2-strokers I had, I ended up moving up a groove (which lowered the needle) to lean it out a little as the jet and needle wore from all the vibration. - MarkC
