You may be on to something...if I recall correctly, one of the things that I 'tab' through just shows "0." It's something like Miles, Hours, RPM, and then "0"...that must be the clock and I've just never set it.

ok guys the 9 volt hook up is for alot of things, first off do you know how and why polaris won the military contract in 2004?ok before 2002 polaris was working on a new 12 volt dc not ac electrical system, with the 12 v dc the system uses less voltage to run the system and is more realiable, the first polaris that had this new system was the 2003 predator 500,the nice thing about 12 volt dc is that all the switches and speedo can be turned on with dc voltage.ok back to the contract before polaris was awarded the contract the US government brought most of the honda 2003 4x4 line up along with some honda reps, and yamaha brought a few 4x4s and polaris brought only two 2003 sportsman 700 late build with the new 12 volt dc system.the US brought these machines to afgahnistan to test out the machines and award the best machine the 12 million dollar military contract.everybody thought honda was going to win the contract hands down because honda was honda, wrong the rincons and the electric shift models had problems in the sand snow and mud,the yamahas were a little bit better but the sportsman 700s could not be stopped, they even somehow bent the frame of one of the 700s so bad that one front wheel was raised off the ground, and they still drove it another 1500 miles just because they could.polaris also showed the US that the switches could be broken off and you could still turn the switch on with a 9 volt battery.polaris won the contract and the first atv made for the US military was the 2004 mv7,polaris has a new contract with the military to build a gas/deisel atv,the contract worth $40 million.if you go and see the US military mv7s and mv8s they have a holder on them that holds 9 volt batterys, you can turn on the 4x4 even if the switch gets shot off with a 9 volt battery, anything that needs power can be turned on with a 9 volt battery.you can even electric start it with a 9 volt battery it will just be a little weak cranking.

I just confirmed...no clock on my 05 700 Sportsman. I toggle through four items when pressing the yellow button: Odometer, Trip, Tach, and Hours.

Great information. My dad tried to add blinkers to his 04 ranger and ran into this. Now I can tell him why.
Thanks
