Mine is in the shop for it now. It looks as if Polaris tried a different approach on the 2012's and hopefully they have a solution.

That's very bad news. I already have bought 12" rims.
How bad is that oil thing in air box?

My dealer says it's more prevalent when riding REALLY hard but I have read about others on the forum who claim different. I normally ride moderate speeds and my air box is as dry as a bone. I would be very surprised if Polaris hasn't eliminated the problem for 2012.

Yes..you will notice a HUGE difference between the 850 and your Outty 400. I made the exact same move in January and I am STILL impressed by the smoothness and power every time I get on the bike. I did not have a good experience with my Outlander and will not get another CanAm. I have only pegged the throttle on my Touring one time but I almost had to change my shorts. I hear the thing will do between 70 & 80 mph right out of the box but that is just too fast for me. Riding paved roads with highway tires sounds like fun though. Be certain that you will be very, very impressied with your new bike.

That is correct, 12" wheels will not fit the XP. I would see if the dealer will take them back. He should have told you they would not work for you. As for oil in the air box, I have not had this problem at 770 miles on my 850. Some fairly hard miles, some cruising miles. Not sure, but I would bet that if everybody who owned an 850 were to answer if they had that problem, the percentage of people who said yes would be pretty small. People only post about it if it happens to them. There are a lot of 850's out there!
Enjoy your new bike. You will love the power of the 850!!!

Regarding #3: My 700 blew heat like crazy out on my right leg. Bearable, but annoying. I was upgrading the exhaust and went ahead and put header wrap on...glad I did...10 times better. It's still warm, but not hot.

As far as oil in the air box goes........
There are a number of factors that are involved. First, if you don't ride fast you'll never see it. I never had a problem until the machine was broken in and I could open it up. Second, if everything is put together just right, no problem. The dealer put a new labyrinth plate in and it worked until the new plate separated. Third, bobx2 is right. I ride with two other guys that have 850 xp's and they ride harder than I do and have never had the problem. I would not hesitate to buy a new one.

That's nice to hear.
Dealer took back 12" rims and I already placed the order on BF Goodrich highway tires. I just wanted to save some money as I already have 12" Maxxis highway tires. But never mind. Just an hour ago a friend of mine gave me a call. He had flat tire and asked for a help, as I always carry air compressor 12V with me. I went to rescue him. He rides Outlander with highway tires. Inflating the tire up I've noticed they were almost completely warn. I told him I had 4 tires to sell and he said we'll talk about them in few months. So, it's not all that bad. I know I'll be hapy with 14" alluminium rims and street tires then with 12" steel rims.
