2006 POLARIS Sportsman 500 HO EFI backfires
New to this but love to ride. My 2006 500 H.O. EFI 4X4 Sportsman was running great, sprayed off some mud and now will not idle. It will just cut off. I have to hold the throttle on at 2800-3000rpm and when you let off it back fires. I normally enjoy fixing things but this is my 1st ATV and the closest polaris dealership is not only an hour away but the mechanic they had has quit and eventhough it's been over two months, he hasn't been replaced yet. So I'm reaching out to you all for some help if possible. Any ideas?

I was just down in your neck of the woods over the weekend!!
Sounds like you got some water issues!! You need to get it dried out!! You can do this will mother nature, let it sit out in the sun or in a warm environment for a while. Once its dried out it will return to normal. THEN you need to better water proof it. I like die electric grease. Put it on all electrical connections and the porcelain part of the plug(s) in the rubber boots that go over the plugs.
