97 Sportsman 500 Overheating Question

Purchased a 1997 Polaris Sportsman 500 three weeks ago. Rode it around home approx 5 miles with no overheating issues. Took it deer hunting this past week and after 10-15 minutes of operating, the red engine temp light comes on. After the engine cools down, light stays off until another 10-15 minutes of operation. Not going over 10 mph when this happened, and trail terrain was rocky and hilly.
No signs of puking of coolant at overflow tank, or at radiator cap. The fan comes on and I can see the blade turning.
My question: How fast should the fan blade be turning (rpms ??) My fan seems to be turning slow, but I do not know what is normal speed. Anyone with knowledge of fan speeds, please enlighten me. Thanks.

not sure of rpm but they spin pretty fast, is radiator clean, front and rear?is anti freeze full at radiator cap under front rack? if you need a new fan you can buy a direct Spal replacement off e-bay look under atv parts and polaris fans
