new member,new 550X2

I'd like to say thank's to everyone for their help in advance in helping me solve so issues with my 2011 550X2.It now has 300 miles on it. Since new it has fouled the plug, original, platinum and iridium. It also turns the exhaust orange, red from head, back 4 to 5 inches, have new K@N air filter and a stock muffler off a 2011 850X2 and lastly it seems gutless top end 40-45 mph. Engine base timing, fuel, not sure.Thank's

how did the 850 muffler sound on the 550/ does it sound similar to the 850/ were the plug problems there before the muffler change?

Welcome, yes, were the problems there before the muffler change, cherry red exhaust is either lean condition or blocked flow, either not a good condition for the motor.

I would agree the exhaust getting that hot would seem like lean/ is the plug fuel fouling from too much fuel, and the excess fuel is igniting in the exhaust pipe and that is where the red glow is coming from? how does it sound with the dual outlet 850 muffler on it. I was thinking about changing to one if it makes a 550 sound similar to my dads 850 touring.

Thank's for the input guy's,the plug fouling has been there from new and when you start the engine, say in a garage you smell fuel, but seems too go away after a little warm-up time.I never noticed the hot pipe with the original muffler on,but could always try it to see if it persists. As far as the sound goes it seems a little tinny, hollow sounding at idle and bark's pretty loud when on the gas.I would have too assume a dual outlet muffler would have better flow than a single but could be wrong. When I get some time I'll put the old muffler back on and see what happens.Thank's again.

If it has been fuel fouling plugs since new/ I would wonder if the spark plug is gapped wrong or if maybe the fuel pressure regulator is sticking and sending too much fuel through/ does the oil smell like gas?

Yes the oil does have a gassy smell to it,has since new ,maybe it's time to take it back to the creator and see what they have to say about it.

I think that's the best plan, just in case. gas in the oil does not lubricate like oil. don't need bottom end bearing issues down the road when it's not you fault. Killer machine anyway.
