Cold weather 700 starts?
I've read that these quads are though to start in the cold? Perhaps the jetting needs to be fixed? I'm having a hell of a time getting my to start, but I also have suspicion that it may be the on/off switch.
How hard are they REALLY to start in the cold?
And if I do have a faulty on/off switch, how can I test it?
Thanks!

If your on/off switch isn't working then it wouldn't turn over at all. You have EFI or a choke on that year? Whens the last time you changed the spark plug? That might help.

its got a choke. Yeah it turns over and over, just wont fire. It was fine in the warmer weather, just now that it has gotten cold, it dosent want to wake up?
What can it be?

Check your spark plug and make sure your getting gas on it. And make sure your getting spark. If your not getting gas you might have frozen water in your gas lines or carb. Adding Sea foam to your gas will help get rid of water.

Should'nt be that hard to start. Try replacing plug & gas. Choke for me is usually between 1/2 & 3/4 out.

fuel screw not set right, on bottom of carb ther is a fuel screw, maybe under brass cap, if so drill an 1/8 inch hole in cap, screw a sheet metal screw into cap and pull cap out with vise grips, set fuel screw at 2.5 turns out, poaris put out a service bullitin on this several years ago, Ive seen screws completely shut.

Fuel screw is set at 2.5. I had issues with it running right after the rebuild because it was all the way in.

if its at 2.5 and is still hard to start, lower e-clip on main needle one notch, this will richen the mixture a little and should help also take side covers off and spray carb cleaner around intake boot from engine to carb, if motor speeedsm up or slows down, boot is cracked and would make it hard to start

Welp, as it turns out. No spark. Took the flywheel cover off and saw the coil covered in shavings. I'm assuming from the bendix kicking in and out (no shavings in the oil ever and when I had the head off, it was all clean)
Well, pulling the flywheel was a bitch and a half, that sucker was on there like crazy, I got it off and also happened to pop one of the flywheel magnets off too. WTF?? FML.
Anyways, looks like I'll need a flywheel and stator now and also the boots on the spark wires are both bad, the ceramic piece is broke on both of them..
UGHHHH......I get the quad, fix it up and get two rides in on it and and now this crap. Kinda pissed right about now.
Anyone know what flywheels I can use for what years? Mine is a 2003 model. Anyone happen to be parting a quad out and wanna sell me the stuff I need?? I have cash not, just not enough to buy new stuff. Please keep me in mind when parts browsing.
Thanks.
