500 efi wont shift

my 500 efi sportsman with ebs won t shift while running i have to shut the bike down and shift then re start.i took the belt of and the bike shifts running no problem?whats up

ebs washers bad in primary clutch,? is it creeping?, how fast is it idling?

Easiest fix and issue I have run into is high idle. If you are idling too high then you will not be able to shift.

like stated it could be idle speed, the one way bearing could be bad or a misalignment of the primary and secondary clutches. If the clutches are not aligned it will not shift until you cut it off. Check for broken motor mounts, this will throw the alignment off.
