fuel tank issues sportsman 800

I just bought a 2005 sportsman 800efi test drove it everything ok. Went riding with a buddy today shut off twice took the fuel cap off when it was running gas came shooting out tank is pressureizing and bubbling in the tank. need help please it only has 98hrs 700 miles

wait what?
you mean the fuel cam shooting out of the gas tank?
the only thing i would think it would be is the pressure relief valve...
plus there could have been a some fuel on the cap or between the cap and tank that leaked out..

not reall understanding what your problem is... did it like fly out? how much fuel was in the tank?

as for the fuel bubling , do you mean it had bubles coming up or it just had bubles on the inside?

Make sure the tank vent isn't plugged as it sounds like you are vapor-locking. The tank should not be pressurized because it is an open system so-to-speak. My gas bubbles with the machine idling from the vibration not from boiling. If that is your concern use a meat thermometer and check fuel temp. Just some thoughts...

what I am asking is there a vent hose for the tank that could be clogged up.what i dont understand if the engine is running take fuel cap off the engine dies

yes vent hose is under plastic in front of fuel cap, might also put more insulation on bopttom of tank, the heat will boil the gas, Read AK STEWS, Fixed post .
