08 sportsman 500 efi wont idle
my bike will start up, but as soon as it does i have to feather the throttle or it dies. runs fine, but it just started doing this on the weekend since i put a jerry can of gas in it. would water in the gas cause this?

i syphoned as much gas out as i could, and refueled with new gas and its still doing it... nobody has any ideas?

Try adjusting the throttle freeplay, it should be 1/6"-1/8" of play. The adjustment is down a little on the handlebars, just pull the boot up and the ajuster is right there.

mine did this just recently....it would start up and i would have to feather the throtle multiple times until the 4th or 5th time and it MIGHT start...i took it to my dealer, and they gave me a new plug and wires....its on the right side by the footwell. My cousin had to replace it too....but i just got it...ill let you know if it fixes the problem
Cost me like 45 bucks.

i replaced the plug wires (t-bat sensor) its the one that hooks into the airbox intake tube...so if you take off the top cover on the air box, its under that. and it geels like i have soo much more power and its running better! but im glad your throtle control worked!
