2011 850 Touring Exhaust help

Hi,
I plan to cut exhaust tips and take the muffler to the shop and weld new tips, larger, and pointing back horizontaly.
I've made all plans, got the paint to spray it all over after it's done.
But first I have to remove the muffler. I see it's secured by two bolts and two springs (springs to the pipe).
Can anyone direct me how to remove the muffler. I guess it's easy to get to the bolts but my problem is with springs. Simple puller tool for exhaust springs wouldn't work as I don't plan to remove whole cabinet from above, so there is no enough room to use the tool. Can I do it with pliers? Is it possible? Has anyone removed one from this model and can shed some light on the metter?
Thanks

I was able to remove the springs with channel locks but it was not easy. It was even harder to get the springs back on with channel locks but it can be done. I would do it in a clean shop area because when the spring slips, they fly quite far. I had to go looking for the springs several times. Good Luck.

Just went down to my garage and tried with long pliers and screwdriver and they don't move even a bit.
All of this scares me now and I'm thinking of giving it up.

Here is a link to a picture.

These are smooth jaw. I would use some with grips or teeth.

Just found a proper tool on eBay and thinking to spend 20 USD to get it. It'll take long to arrive From US to Portugal.
