So it won't lift or drop now? Do you hear the contactor click?

Battery failure? Mine started doing that last night. After the winch stopped, it kept me from revving above 18-2000 RPM. Couldn't move. Shut it off, let it sit. Turn back on and get check engine light code= voltage too low.
Let it idle with no lights for half hour and was able to get it in my truck. I thank Polaris for the warning before it was totally dead, but the lights were still nice and bright.
I think what ultimately killed it was the cold. The battery was 4 years old. Got new one today at Batteries Plus today for $114. Not cheap, but it has a 2 year warranty.
If you think about it, all those lights (I have two auxiliary reverse), constantly using the winch (for hours in my case), and the cold will kill a battery.
Sorry for my rant, I was fired up last night when this went down, still am. Winter income was the justification for buying the tool, toy. Happy it was only the battery. Seemed like much worse.

If you are not hearing the "click" from the contactor then it is most likely the handlebar switch or the contactor. Could even be the wiring between the switch and contactor. Even if the battery was low on voltage it would still pull in the contactor, doesn't take much to pull it in.

It is hard to trouble shoot which part is broke if there is no consistency in the problem. It is usually the contractor or switch though. The switch on your handle bar usually has two screws to take the housing apart, then you can make sure it is clean. The contractors going bad are very common as well. I keep am extra, $30 on ebay.
If you can get the problem consistent, do a search on the forum. There is a thread I posted in that will tell you how to switch wires and test it.
