How deep in water, stock

Just curious to how deep can you get an ATV without any serious harm.

Have been riding a Polaris for years, mostly deer hunting and I am sure what most of ya'll would call light mudding, but was watching youtube and some of these guys get water all way up to the seat

What do you need to look for or be careful of, this is WITHOUT snorkels just stock

We do some duck hunting around here and the swamp we hunt is about knee deep or a little better. Just thinking would be easier to drive atv in and cover it up instead of walking couple hundred yards through a swamp,

Sure would be a LOT more fun

I've had mine up to the seat crossing rivers and through some crappy mud holes. I've got an 850 touring and had no problems. I recently changed my starter and the guy at the shop said its a four wheeler not a submarine I guess water was getting inside and rusted it out . Besides that no problems with water just keep greasing her and check the clutches for water every no and then

I'd also be curious to know what people think about this. I'm a scaredy-pants when it comes to 4-wheelers and water! I fear ruining my perfectly good toy by simply running through a puddle lol!

i only have a 325 trail boss and i had water more than halfway up the motor while mudding so i think you would be fine going through anything. just dont stop!

Kind of my thinking, just do not want to do something that will cause damage to my ATV

Also how about the winch, I have Polaris winch

I have always heard that as long as your exhaust stays above water, you're all set. Personally... I am a biznatch and I would never go in anything that went above my floorboards. I have heard people having issues even with that, so if you're not gonna snorkel the bike, stay on land!

The owners manual says up to the floorboard/ footrest which puts it up to about the axles.

Although some people do believe their ATV is some form of watercraft.

if it dues not go over your cvt snorkel or air box your good to go. My 800 touring was at the seat in the water and I turned her off and parked her. Walked back out and started her up all good to go. The stock exhaust on the standered sportsmans dont let watter in them because how there made they always have air in them and not tilted so water cant get in it don't bug them much I would just worrie about electrical problem just electrical grease all the plugs

Kind of what I have always done, sometimes a little deeper but always tried not to get it too high on engine or CVT.
