2011 400 HO ?'s

Hey guys I have had my new sportsman for a few weeks and after trying to do a little engine break-in I finally decided to open her up. The first thing I noticed is that no matter what type of incline or decline I was on the motor topped out at 6,950 rpms (I believe this is correct). Is there a rev limiter and or speed limiter on these machine's? It felt like it had a little more in it but it just stayed right there at that rpm. I was pleased to see it reach 57mph though. Thanks in advance...

hey, sorry to hi-jack this thread, but are you satisfied with the power of the 400HO? I'm thinking about gettin one, but some people are telling me that the 400 will be too weak for me, and that I should go to the 500...

the 400 is fine for most ppl if they keep the stock size Rims and tires.

my 500 has a LOT more power. (i drove both)

& 6,950 rpms looks to be right for the rev limiter

I think my 500 tops out about 58. I don't really ride that fast so I don't do it often.

you aren't restricted to stock tires by any means. i have 28" zillas and sling the mess out of them. considered going up to 30s and this is with no clutch work

Thanks for all the input guys. I just bolted on some sedona wheels and ripsaw 26's. They are a good deal heavier so I hope they dont bog me down to much. We'll see.
