Winch cable rubbing on front brushguard when using snow plow

I have a 2008 Sportsman Touring with Polaris Brushguards and a Polaris winch, I recently bought a snow plow from Polaris (Glacier III) and a 52 inches blade. My problem is the following: the winch cable is rubbing against the horizontal tubing of my brushguard. Did anyone encountered this problem and if you did what was your solution?

Had that same problem on my '07 X2. I just cut a piece of rubber mud flap and zip tied it on. The cable will wear grooves in it, but mud flaps are made of a reinforced rubber and the cable seldom rubs in the same place. I have not had to replace this original piece that I put on. It is now on the wifes 500, so it has been on for over 3 1/2 years. Here are a couple of pictures. In the last one if you look close you can see the winch cable.

After I had it installed I tought that I would have been better with another brand of blade/installation but it looks that you have the same problem with a Cycle country plow. I think it is a great idea that you had. You mentioned that the piece of mud flap is made of ''real rubber'' something like we see or tractor trailer or the usual car mud flap which are made of plastic/rubber? Thanks a lot.

just a thought, my glacier 2 DOESNT rub, im pretty sure because polaris was selling "extended" plow frames for the x2s and tourings....
the only reason i put material on mine (instead of rubber) is because it rubs when i try to LIFT something or PULL something out of the ground....

doesnt have to be rubber really, it can be a piece of garden hose, jeans cloth,
or a piece of soft-ish plastic...

hope i helped.

I have a 2008 800 and I have the same issue. I bought a Warn front mount plow this season and only used it a couple of times. I have the synthetic rope and it just rides on the cross tube. There is a little wear on the power coat, but it looks like it will take quite a bit of use before any real wear.

It is amazing that a company does not offer a solution to a problem that seems to cause trouble to Polaris owners since few years. I have sent an e-mail to Polaris and they refer me to my dealership. The problem is not the installation but a poor design and making sure that all their products can be used together without causing problem. I think in the future I will rely on aftermarket products instead of "Pure Polaris".

I don't believe they make them anymore because they don't make that style ATV anymore. You might be able to get one from a retailer who still has one.
