What year transmissions will fit in a 1996 sportsman 400 4x4? I have found a 1995 and a 1997 but i have been unable to find a 1996.
My output shaft broke and i can rebuild the transmission but it would be quicker for me to just swap it out. Any input would be helpful.

1997 would def fit, 1996 was the year of the 96-2004 body style, gen IV they call it?
As long as it came from a 2 stroke model, i would think the gearing is different than a 4 stroke model.
