2012 400HO - occasionally shuts off out of nowhere
Twice, over the last 3 months I've owned this quad, i'll be driving, and it'll just shut off on me....  It has started right back up no problem both times. Just weird...
I'm not an expert on carburators, but is this something that can occasionally happen? Or does this suggest that there's something wrong somewhere?

When it shuts off is it like shutting the key off, instantly off? Or does it sputter and cough then die?

Uhh it dies pretty quick. I feel like I notice its going to turn off like a second before it does.. so maybe it hesitates for just a sec and then dies.

I had a similar problem while trail riding. Turned out the keychain was hitting the tank and would shutoff the ignition. My solution was to trim the keychain so it would not contact the tank when turn the handlebars.

I'm with Mark, if you have a keychain get rid of it. Other things that top the list of mystery stalls: ETC maladjustment, kill switch malfunction, loose battery connections/weak battery, bad gas, fuel pump failure, carb issues, water in spark plug boot.

i do have a keychain but i know that the key wasnt pulled to the off position when it happened. It just a small dealer keychain, couldnt really catch on anything..

I also had the dealer key chain. It would catch when I turned the handlebars. Just a thought.

the key can still be on the on position, the key chain only has to move it back so far to shut it off then the ignition just flicks back to the on position. happened to me.

jordaman17- exactly what happened to me. I replaced it with florescent yellow cloth material. (in case the key falls out) Perfect!
