2" lift + 800 sportsman = new cv boots
I just bought a used 2006 sportsman 800, and order a 2" lift, but due to the lack of knowledge I learned the hard way about the cv boots rubbing and I broke a front cv shaft inner joint.
I have seen about the grinding of the strut housing, just don't really know about doing that to the bike it's in good shape. I am only running 28" swamp lites ...
So in short, guess I am asking is it worth it to grind or just take it off?

Friend of mine had a lift in his 700...broke more axles then I can remember. I guess it depends on your riding conditions...but do you really need that lift?

I can fit the tires with out the lift, so far I broke an axle and tore my boots, not a real crazy rider, like to be the guy on the side watching others play.

You will be ok once you grind that off and put some good axles under it. I broke the stock axles left are right on the front of my 700. Got some heavy duty axles and never had a problem.

I just ordered the 2'' highlifter lift. I am running 27'' gream reapers. I have also been worried wheater this would put uneeded stress on my machine. I would like more clearance that is the only reason for me buying the lift. But i dont want to be replacing something everytime i ride. What would be a good set of axles for it once i install the lift?

Guys if your going to do axles look at the rhino axles they are good axles on the cheap. 2" lift should have no effect on your boots not grinding the strut housing will tear boots every time. and stock axles just need a Lil throttle control. If your stuck and in 4x4 don't hammer it turning it'll break every time

Lifts are great if your independently wealthy!! (Or just flat out retarded!) If you need more height go buy a jeep. These things are designed to run as they are, any thing else is just a rolling money pit and perform with less ability and less useability!! But being a mechanic I love seeing these guys because it means money in my pocket when they bust them up!!! IDIOTS! My .02!!!!

Never seen this guys other post but i am with you. I have seen more swamped bikes and broken axles from bikes that werent built to do what we do with them. I have a 2in hl lift and running 30 in tires and never had a problem. Yes my stock axles finally gave out this year after 9years of hard riding. But with a lift thumb control and non aggresive tires you will be fine.

Yeah. I'm getting tired of this Reno guy. Extremly annoying. He isn't a rider. It's like he waits for people to talk about lifts or big wheels then he copy paste his stupid comments. Really tired of his input. Anyway. I had a lift on my 500. Was great for clearence but horrible for axles. Unless you get some nice after markets, you should be golden with a 2 inch and some after market rhino or gorillas
