New ATV itch---fixed cheap

Well after a couple of weeks of the new ATV itch, I decide that a new ATV could wait. Instead of dropping 10K plus down on a new quad (I was looking at the 2-up 850), I decide to give my 04' 600 Sportsman a face lift and a couple more ponies. I bought it new in 04, so I know all the service and use history and really couldn't justify letting it go---it's been an awesome recreation and work quad for the past 6 years.

I ordered the list of mods below in hopes of getting a new feel and look for the old girl. With any luck these mods will buy me a few more years before I'm ready for a new quad. I'm still researching clutching options, but I'm leaning towards and EPI kit right now. I've done a ton of searches for clutching and it's been hard finding a lot of good clutching info on the 600. Anyone out there have a clutch kit for their 600, I'd appreciate any feedback you can offer.

I'll get some before & after pics up as soon as everything is done.

Mods
Big Gun Full Exhaust
ITP 14" SS108
ITP 27" XTRs
Uni-Filter
Jet Kit
Hub bearings
New plugs
Complete fluid change

Well, I received and had all the mods above installed Friday evening by 10 PM that night. Unfortunately, I had to catch a plane Satyrday morning so I didn't get to take any pics or get any saddle time in. It does sound pretty aggressive with the full Big Gun exhaust on though.

I think I may look at a small lift next. The front tires look like they could rub the fender in a hard turn under full suspension compression.

I'll get pics posted up in the wheel and tire sticky thread next weekend.

Sounds like you have a solid plan in place. Can't wait to see the results

I was finally able to snap a few pics today, most are posted over on the tire and wheel sticky thread---HERE

I'll need to do the front spacer/lift mod because I can rub the fender with little effort as it sits now.

And here's a few shots of the Big Gun

That pipe is impressive. Like the black wheels with the yellow quad! Great choices, sorry that you have to get that pipe dirty!!!

Actually the quad hasn't seen mud in almost 4 years, so it'll prolly stay clean for a while.

It's mainly used to move snow in the winter and in the summer used to zip around to the neighbors houses and shoot the breeze. The kids will take it around the yard a few times a year too.

What kind of HP gains do you think you had with the mods?

Notice very much?

Little, if any seat of the pants gain right now. I have a QSC clutch kit coming, so that should complete the performance circle and should unleash that new power---I hope.
