Is the extended warranty worth it?

With only a 6 month warranty, is it worth the extra money for the 1 or 2 yr extended warranty? We don;t beat up our stuff.

With our new diesel tractor, everything is so expensive we opted for the engine and drivetrain extended warranty just in case. But we are talking 3-4K repairs in one shot instead of 3-400 for a small atv.

What are your opinions? Has anyone has to use thier extended warranty for major repairs?

At first I decided against the extended warranty since everyone on here raves about the reliablility of these machines. But in the first six months, i had it in 3 times for warranty repairs. Nothing catastrophic, but enough that it would have been worth it to have the warranty. So I wound up buying a 3-yr warranty before my 6-month ran out. If I have the same experience over the next 3 years that i had over the last 6 months, this warranty will pay for itself 5 times over. I dont expect this machine to be this problematic (my repairs were kind of freak accident-type things) and these repairs haven't ruined my polaris experience, but I'll sleep easier now knowing that i wont have to pay for any future repairs for 3 years.

I am not big on extended warranties but after being told my 11 800 only had a 6 month warranty and knowing the time of year I purchased and my work schedule I would not even ride it much I figured I better go ahead and purchase it

Got a great deal on the 11 so I went with 5 yr extended warranty, I know the dealerships make a lot of $$$ on that but it gives me a piece of mind

Honestly hope I wasted my $$$ if truth be known

I was glad I have it. The red wheeler developed a leak at a seam on the radiator & front diff making noise not long after 6 month warranty expired.
Replaced radiator & front diff bearings, labor. The bill was more than I paid for the Ext. warranty.

I hate extended warranty's,There money making machines for dealers, stores etc...
What everyone overlooks is that a warranty doesn't cover your bike if you break it, It only covers very specific factory defects.

I would not have bought a 10 grand ATV if I did not trust the reliability of it..
I also don't think that guys who buy it sleep better at night then guys that don't.
I bought my bike at the beginning of summer and rode it pretty dam hard for the first 6 months,My logic is that if its going to break its going to break now. Well 1 1/2 years later and my 550 is solid..I'd be pissed if I had spent $1600 on a 4 1/2 year warranty and basically watch my money go down the drain.

My sales guy Greg at the dealership said honestly save your money Scott,If you need to fix something down the road $1600 goes a long way.So I know there shotty when the dealership is saying don't buy it.
that's my opinion!

I bought it based on all the posts with weak axle shafts on the value line. So far, have not needed it. It may be money down the drain, or it may not. I bought Cornerstone, not Polaristar. They do not ell the Polaris warranty because they deny almost everything under the sun.

Piece of mind. That's why I got mine. My 550 is just about a year old and it will be going in for the third time. Nothing major but I know nothing will be coming out of my pocket. If you figure every time you drop it off it's at least a $100 bill ,at least. It has almost paid for it's self.

Power steering light and hot light kept going on. Never lost power steering but light would flash randomly.2nd issue, grease zerk has fallen off back a-arm.Dealer replaced it. Now it has fallen off again. Like I said not too major but I don't have to worry about it. I got a three year for $600

Like skizmo said if you ride it alot in that 6 mo. antthing that can go wrong will go wrong. I think we put 800 mi. on the 500 in the first 6 mo. and no problems. 2100 mi on it now and the only problem we had was a torn boot, which the extended wont cover. Yes check out what it covers and make your mind up.
