01 sportsman 90 cutting out
You guys are probably sick of answering this question, sorry! Just bought an old S90 for my youngest son. Went thru the carb, all new gas lines. It cuts out when you give it some throttle, not all the time. It seems to get better when warmed up. But still erratic on the running thing. It just shuts off and then is fine when ya let off the throttle. It will idle all day, but just attept to give it gas. Sometimes just off of idle, sometimes at half throttle. Any ideas???

this is a 2-stroke right?
my first thought right off the bat is the spark plug is on its last leg. especially on a 2-stroke, they can foul quick. a fouled spark plug will let an engine idle pretty good, but whill choke out and die when you give it gas.
a new spark plug should be like $3 and quick to do to see if it helps or not

I've been a mechanic for almost 27 years. Working on autos, boats, four wheelers, you name it. Never seen a plug react that way. I actually changed it out just before you replied. Guess what, problem solved. Thanks guys!!! I will be back again. I am usually on an archery forum, but, always looking for ways I can help others, and ones that can help me.

Thought I had it fixed. Ready to pull the last hair out of my head! Son took it out, and after 10-15 minutes of riding, it does the same thing. Put in new plug, same thing! Done tearing my hair out. Took it to a real small engine mech. and he has had it sitting there all week, hasn't touched it yet. Gonna go pick it up. When it cuts out, it has spark. I put a timing light on it just to see if it was the spark cutting. Seems to be gas related, but everything is absolutely spotless, and when I pull the gas line, it flows plenty good. It has plenty of power, so compression should be fine. Little sucker will pull the front wheels off the ground with 195 lbs on it, me.
