Old battery was 12.7v. Both aren't turning over unit with any speed. Almost as if batteries are deAd though they aren't.

Engine won't start so I can't give running voltage.
12.7 should have been more than fine for a battery voltage when not running.

03 500 does not have a pull start? If so, you're saying it won't pull start either?

If you try to jump start it, does it also turns over slow? If so, then the problem has nothing to do with the charging system or battery. Then you are looking at starter or associated circuits.

Maybe it is an 05. eitherway it does have a pullstart and won't start.

I pulled the plug and it still turns slow. I'm guessing it is the starter. Gonna pull it and listen to it spin.

I'm confused...so it won't pullstart either but you think it is a bad starter?

So to clarify. The starter turns the engine over very slowly with or without the spark plug installed.

Pull starting with plug out it spins fine and i didnt hear or feel anything odd And I checked the plug for spark when turning over engine and everything looked good.

So internal mechanical issues don't seem to be at play.

It is hard to pull start with the plug installed though.

You said you were hunting..... did you go through any water and get water in starter? I'd pull it off and take it appart, clean it up and put back together and see what happens. Not out anything but your free time!

No water on the ride. It started kinda weak as if battery was low charge I turned it off after 20min and I wouldn't restart as if battery was dead. So I pull started and rode On. Then 30min later I couldn't get it started with either starter or pull start or a jumper pack.

I have ordered a new starter hopefully that is all it was.

most electrical issues with polaris is the PDM. Mine appeared to be battery also. put new one in and then it was completely dead. if i left the key on for five minutes the power would come on and i could pull start it, then i could start it with the key. next day dead, then it became dead indefinitly. new PDM $190 tax included, runs like a champ! if this is your problem, after install, turn key, leave key on, will take a few seconds before power comes on.

Man I hope this is it. I am so tired of spinning my wheels and time but most importantly my $$$. I am all over $200 to put this project to bed and do some ridding.

PDM - Must Be the Problem...

I did some googling and found others having the very same problems and more that what I described previously so let me update my list of what to look for and why.

1. Erratic Fan - turns on and off a lot and at weird times.
2. Voltage - @ 3000rpm should be no more than 15v but no less than 13v. if it is not you have something robbing power like a short.
3. Clean all connections and make them good and tight before doing anything.

these are a few thing I came across.

PDM will be my next thing
