Question Changing seat on a Sportsman Touring 500

Want to put a Tamarack deluxe lounger on the back for a seat for momma. Can't I take the seat and the hand grips that are on there now, off?? Some guys are telling me even though it is 2up machine, you can not change the seat. We are 61 yrs.old and just started riding. I WANT to be legal. Any ideas?? Thanx,Dick

Although you didn't say what year your Model T is, mine is an '08. Removing the seat leaves a large hole because of the way it locks into the frame. (There is a pull strap located behind the seat that when pulled, releases the seat from a large pin attached to the frame). To remove the handgrips, you have to take off the rear rack and unbolt them from underneath it. Don't know if it's the same with yours. I don't quite understand why you'd want to change out the seat as it is very comfortable and also is designed to keep the rear passenger in front of the rear axle for stability.

Thumbs up changing back seat

Mine is a 2013 Touring. It is set up the same as yours. I thought that seat would be more comfortable[400 bucks] plus it has the storage around it. But you are right when it comes to safety. I see alot of people in the videos have their passengers in them. Thanx for the input, bro. See ya on the trails.

Mine is an 08 and I couldnt see paying for the actual touring box we just bought a tamarack box and tore the cushions off of it and bolted her on the rack around the factory seat. It works great but the trunk is alittle hard to open I had to space it enough to open up before I bolted it on. We love it!! And as far as what is legal and what isnt Wisconsin DNR books state that so long as you have a tamarack and foot pegs you can operate with 2 people. We were just at a charity ride and DNR was there as was State troopers and I asked before I rode if it was and he said same thing as I read. If you want some pics and some more tips just ask and I will try and get some up for you
