If you are building/fabricating a hybrid mud wheeler.... I would say central hilliard would be the better of the two..... one unit as apposed to two hub = twice the moving / operating parts. I'd look for one from a model year 2004-2007 size 300cc-800cc sportsman, magnum, or ranger. As these are the ones that can be built with the cheaper & better John Deere parts. As the John Deere Roller Cage is Aluminum vs. Polaris Poly Cage, all other parts should be the same only cheaper!!!
Check this thread out for reference: John Deer Front Diff. parts fit Sportsman!

Another question I have is the motor I'm going to be using is out of a 97 polaris scrambler now from what I can tell the motors are the same except for the stator hook up different. Could I just slice a connector onto my 97 stator and should I just buy a stator for a 05 sportsman and put it on my motor??

go central Hilliard and put in an aluminum Sprague cage. Stronger and much more reliable. No more 3 wheel drive. It either works or doesn't and the wiring is out of the way.
