Sportsman Seat ????

I just bought a 08 polaris sportsman x2 500 H.O and the seat doesnt have a latch is it supposed to or is it just the to little metal spike things that go into the rubber gromet? This is stumping me. But I am thinking since its a x2 it doesnt but jms dont want to go riding and slide off

the X2 is only the rubber gromets with the little metal poles. since it has the box on it, it doesnt have the latch, but when the box is in the closed and locked position, it also helps hold the seat down
