boot change

Tore a front outer boot.
Bought a new boot and a Clymer manual.Went at changing it today.All went real smooth really.Very good manual.
However when trying to disassemble the outer CV joint the drive axle came out of the hilliard clutch assembly.
No big deal it goes back in no problem.
However this is a new machine.The shaft and splined opening For the shaft were bone dry and rusty.Got the boot on and am ready to reassemble

Thought I would hold off to see if there is suppose to be some sort of grease in that end.
Couldn't find the answer in my book.I'm sure it is there.Just couldn't find it.

Appreciate any info

My 2010 850 Service manual states to put some anti-seize compound on the splines.

I finally found that in the Clymer .Now what is anti-seize compound?

any good hardware store carries it normaly its used on wheel studs or any bolts and nuts you want to take apart in the future or when you have two dissimliar metals touching each other. google mcmaster carr and look it up theres an automotive grade will be fine or marine grad which is better.
