Transmission's front output shaft seal?

I have a 2008 Sportsman 500Ho and it is starting to have a leak from the transmission. It is dripping from where the front drive shaft comes out. Do I need to pull the whole snorkel shaft out from the Transmission to replace the seal or will just disconnecting the drive shaft give me access to the seal?

The FSM and google are not showing me much of anything on this seal. I also purchase a driveshaft seal kit from polaris and it has at least a dozen different o rings and seals in it.

I've never tried doing on in the machine. Always pull the trans to do them. Usually find a few other things that need some attention at the same time that saves the labor later.

Does it pull out once you have the driveshaft off the output stub shaft? Or is it put in from the inside with having the whole snorkle shaft and bearings removed and disassembled?

Well I tackled this over the weekend with full success! Once I got the foot brake removed and the recoil off access improved. Driveshaft was rather easy to remove, tapped out the roll pin and slid towards the rear of the machine. Got the front of the shaft free and wiggled it out. I then carefully screwed in a 10x1" screw into the metal portion of the seal and was then able to grab it with pliers and ply it out. Came out easier than expected, but I didn't realize there was still more oil in it. The rest came out quickly after removal. Cleaned up the contact point of the seal and put a light amount of grease on the new seal. I slid it over the shaft and got it into position. Once in place I used a 6" long piece of 2" pvc pipe and tapped it with a hammer to set the seal into the case.
I used the Polaris fluid to fill it back up, but will try 5w20 synth oil when I change the fluid next.

Glad it went well. Once you start the project its not as scary as you thought. The pvc pipe was good thinking btw.
