I ordered mine this week. As soon as I get them I will post up some photos.

Call me old fashioned. I just like to order from places that have physically set and installed the items they sell. This way if I have a question I get a answer right away vs having to wait for them to go through the channels since they do not know the product that they sell. I did my research & have seen many cheaper units that they call plug and play. They do not come with the factory connectors like what I received on my unit. Just 2 wires that plug into the factory unit meaning you have to tape it up and make it water proof. To save a few bucks and get something that is not 100% made for my unit is not worth it. JMO.

@Thor; Just finished up the install today along with my hand warmers.

Thanks for the help!!!!

At first I looked and I was thinking they were not going to fit and after a few mods they slipped in perfectly! I used stainless hardware and ground a relief in the top of the box to get another 1/16" of clearance so the box stays water tight. Hated loosing my lock and ride but I hated hauling a gas can in my rear bag more!! I have all the tools on board to get it off in a couple of minutes if I need to.

The DDM hid light kits are very easy to install, and yes, they do not have the factory plug, but there is no wire splicing. I just put a piece of heat shrink tube over each wire to waterproof them. When you're talking 80 to 100 in savings,, i dont need the factory plug..
I bought a set for my PIAA's,, heck for 35.00 dollars for a set,, why not.. It took a little modification to make them work, but man are they worth it. The PIAA's were useless with just the original bulbs in when put with the other HID's in the factory lights. Also i can shine them where i want.. You want to talk about lighting up the nightime sky!!!,,lol... I can ride behind 3 other riders and they don't need lights,,lol..

Smoothbassman glad you got it installed. I do not have any issues with water getting into mine when on the trail. Where did you grind the box? Post some pics. Another thought I had was to get some large wing nuts. This way no tools would be needed to take the box off.

Does the 02 have a access panel under the pod like the 05+? If so you could mount it there. Also I have seen people mount them under the front fender.

well let me add to this and if anyone has a 2002 sportsman and buys from BURKE.....Nice guy and refunding my money. But he does not have the stock lens for the main headlamps. They are a different connection than the POD light. I wonder if I am the only one in that situation. I really need a recomendation to a KIt for the 2002 sportsman's. Anyone have any manufacture's......
