cigarette port led work light

Tried googling this and all I can find is junk....

I got an 07 sportsman 800 with the lighter port in the headlight pod. I've never used it but I'm looking for an led work light so I can split firewood and load rounds into my trailer out in the dark, far far away from my house in the woods. I tried using the rear work lights on the quad, but they're too low and too friggin bright.

Anyone come across something like this, and do I have to keep the ignition on to power the port? I imagine so, but it would be nice to wife up and accessory switch to power this port so I don't need to have the quad juiced the whole time.

I would use the two-wire plug for your battery maintainer as a source and add an inline switch between the plug and the LED light. If your maintainer leads don't have an inline fuse I would add one as well. The two wire plugs are easy to find.

Yes, I believe the 12v accessory power port (cigarette lighter plug) is powered with the key on only.

As stated, I'd use a 2 prong style 12v connector.... unless your light already has the cigarette style plug installed. With that... not knowing how long you'd be using it, I'd opt for a stand alone battery powered light myself. As to not draw down the atv's battery when out in the woods??!!
