2006 Sportsman 700 EFI dead in the....mud!
Hopefully you guys can get me back on track. The guys went for a day in the mud on our atv's. I hit a mud hole and got stuck. After being winched out, I hit it again....at 45mph. It hit hard and a wall of mud covered the seemingly innocent bystanders. It died on impact and had to be pulled out. Once home I checked for spark, fuel, and air and found all to be present. Compression is low at around 50psi on both sides. I pulled the valve cover off this morning and all valves seemed to be moving freely. My next move was to check to see if it was still in time, but I'm not sure how??? Any help would be graciously appreciated!

whether the machine has the right timing or not isnt going to help (btw, since the machine is EFI, the timing is set electronically anyway)
the machine is never going to start with 50psi of compression. you have to rebuild the top end.

I'm looking for what could have broken on what was a great running quad . Does this quad have ACR's that could be stuck open after a pretty decent impact?

if you un seized a motor with a little oil your going to need to rebuild it, that ring is going to break dig into the bore and then your into lots more money, if it were me i would hone it and re ring then your good to go

Sorry guys. I'm not buying the stuck ring scenario. You don't hang a ring by driving into a mudhole. I also think the 50 psi measured for compression to be a pre-existing condition unrelated to the mudhole event. Sounds like Polman500 and Blueline have it right, I think this motor is on the verge of cratering.
Oh and by the way jblack. Welcome aboard!
