Help With Info On Sportsman 400 4X4
I just bought a Sportsman 400 4x4 that has chain drive. I was told it is a 1997 model. I'm having trouble locating any numbers stamped to the frame, only thing I see on motor is on right side, 240002, a sticker on the rear end-7074214. I bought and downloaded a service manual, Sportsman 400_500 1996-2003, but I don't think it includes my model. Nothing on chain drive, or what the oil resevoir is by the front rack, in front of the headlight. My sportsman has camo pattern plastics if that will help. Thanks.

VIN# should be stamped on the frame on the lower left frame rail in the left side front wheel well

I looked and looked, and the only numbers I found where, one on top of the motor, model-1341157, serial no.-97-03946, another set of numbers were under the seat, on the frame but i couldn't read all of them, the first are 4xaa69, nc007 ???.
The service manual I have is does NOT include my model. Again, it is a Sportsman 400, 4x4, CHAIN drive, camo plastics. Thanks for the replies.
Edit: I found the stamp on the inside of the left front wheel well, but it is unreadable. The numbers under the seat, on the frame, are unreadable in two spots, the best I can make of it is:
4XAA__69NC00__67

Still could use some help on finding the definite year of my atv. Anyone know the last year the Sportsman 400 4x4 had chain drive?

that 4xa number is the VIN i need, and with all 17 digits perfect, i cant get a hit. 1997 was the last year of the sportsman 400.
its got to be somewhere between a 1993-1997
