Headlight Bulbs
I just picked up a 03 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO yesterday that was in really good shape and not used much. One thing I wanted to do is improve the lower lights in the grill area and was wondering if there is a brighter replacement bulb I could get that will not burn up the housing or wiring? The only numbers I find on the bulbs are 81169 which doing a search on the net does not turn up much. Thanks for any help.

I believe that your bulb is a 800 series.
HIDs are the only way to go if you want some serious lighting.

Like every one here is telling you, if you want brighter lights upgrade to HID`s they are way brighter than any stock bulb. I have them on my ATV and there a huge improvement over stock. Check out Hey! ATV Parts and Accessories are Here! , that`s were i got my kit from, and its all plug and play.
Here is a picture of my set up.

With some of the models, the only replacement bulb available is from popo. They engineered stuff that way so that you have to buy their parts.
When you consider the cost of 2 lightbulbs for your machine, if you just double your money you can get a set of hids.
