Question How to change belt.

I found the following video- How to change a belt on a Polaris. I have never done this before, but it looks easy. Has anyone changed a belt this easy ? or is there another way?

That is exactly the way I have been doing it for many years. But they did not have to take all that plastic off to accomplish that.

Thanks Dale, I am going to purchase a New Belt from the local Polaris dealer and change it out. How much plastic do I need to remove- other than the side panel? Is there any thing else I should check for? there is a noise coming from the clutch cover when the bike is idleing, but as soon as you give it some throttle it stops, I have read that it could be a warped cover, clutch or belt maybe rubbing on the cover.

To remove the belt cover you only need to remove the bottom bolts that hold the foot rest in place you do not need to remove it from both fenders that is just more work. You will need to remove the bolt on the frame rail that connects the rear fender in place, this is located right by the air box. With the outer clutch cover loose pull out on the floor board and you will be able to remove the clutch cover. It might seem a little hard but once you have done it a couple of times it is a piece of cake. If you have any questions feel free to call me at 651-340-1129. Good Luck!

I gotta change one out too on my 2010 Sportsman 500. I have been reading up on it. Others have said to be sure and blow out the breather tube to mkae sure no parts and pieces of belt are hanging around. Thanks Dirty Dog Dale for the insight of the floor board.

no,and some dealers will give you a hard time if you run mud tires and then burn up a belt when you are still in the 6 month warranty.
