2007 500 Sportsman electrical problem

Hello everyone,
Newbie here needing some help with my 2007 500 sportsman HO efi. When i switch the key on the digital display doesnt come on, starter will not turn over....if it sits there a minute or so it will light up, then if i try to start it it will click a few times, but it will eventually start. The battery seems ok because sometimes it will go out and start right up. It acts like a loose connection but i have no idea where to start. Hoping someone else has had this problem and knows the cure..

Garage
Easy, simple things first - check all the ground wires, especially from the battery to chassis.

Good luck, doesn't seem too serious.

My buddy had this same issue on the same year & model,
had to have the ecm replaced.

ECM Part # POL4011517 $368.00

I had him email the part name & # as there was another thread about this.
I'll have to find that one and post the results there also.

Take care,

I went out today to double check myself, it wouldn't do anything, the display wouldn't light, completely dead.. I tapped the ECM, no change. Checked my battery voltage, 12.8 volts at battery and at the hot side of the solenoid. The fuse link off the solenoid has voltage. Took my ignition switch out.. have ZERO voltage on any of the wires at the ign switch connector.. Does anybody have a wiring diagram or know where the voltage come from for the ign switch?

07 starting problems

I have a Polaris Sportsman 500 2007 model. started off by not cranking but was able to start by touching the cylnoid with a screwdriver...replaced the cylnoid relay.. no good....replaced battery...took it to a mechanic to check out electrical lines...said it wasn't grounded...STILL NO GO. Sometime the control center lights come on..sometimes they dont...sometime when they do you can hear the fuel pump engage...somtimes you dont...sometimes it will just a blank click when the lights on on.sometimes the starter is clicking but will not start and sometimes IT ACTUALLY CRANKS. Its like playing a slot machine...every now and then you win????? Any ideas

solved my issues.. I overlooked something very simple. The on off switch on the left handlebar was bad. I could push in on it, display would come on, 4 wheeler fired right up. wiggle it some and it would shut down, no display..

Happened to me twice

It's not the ECM, the part number you referenced is the (PDM) power distribution module 4011517. I have had 2 go bad in less than 5 years, and now there somewhat hard to come by. Part is also increasing in price with many vendors. I have 2 exact machines, every time I have swapped the parts, the problem followed. The display goes out and the unit won't start, there is a printed circuit board in the module with what appears to be small relays, one is the power to the display and start relay. It's been the same problem every time, Polaris know's this, but chooses not to address the problem as far as I know.
