trail boss 250 10mph max???
Ok i got my "pile" running and driving. but for some reason it only wants to do about 10 or so??? I have to assume this thing can do better than that. Anyone have any ideas about this?
Maybe some electrical thing? I have no idea
Its an 87 Trailboss 4x4.

hmmm... gonna need some more info to go on than that i'm afraid. does it bog down when it gets to 10mph or does it sound like it's at max RPM? what's your sparkplug look like?

it kinda bogs down from a little past idle and it seems maxs out at 10, almost like it flooding but i have good floats, and the carb is as clean as its gonna get. Spark plug is giving great spark when i ground it and pull it over. looks wet, not new but not toasted either. it doesnt seem like its getting to max rpm either

on a possibly related note, that idle adjustment screw out the right side( as if sitting on the wheeler) what is the recommended setting?

My book doesn't go back that far but it's usually 1 1/2 turns out ,realize that this is the starting point. Get it warmed up then adjust to the smoothest ,highest idle that you can achieve ,then back in a quarter turn. Do this with the air filter and housing installed, by the way is the air filter clean?
check fuel flow coming from tank
run a compression check (cold)
if the motor is in good shape mechanically,will rev up good in neutral, then you may want to look at the rear clutch
