Carb Location and VIN Check

Newbie here. 1st Post. Bought a 2001 TB 250 2x4 (as far as I know) this weekend. Runs pretty good. Would like to possibly tweek carb settings as it won't hold idle after it warms up. Idles fine cold. Any ideas? Anyway, how do I access the carb? Also, blueline15, can you run the VIN for me? It's 4XABA25C212477723. TIA.

Checked the VIN, something isnt right, it came back invalid. Does it idle fine cold without the choke on, or is that with the choke on?

I haven't had to touch the choke even at low ambient temperatures. Pretty much starts second or third pull (battery dead. no elec start) and idles (a little rough at first). After riding for 10-15 minutes or so, I need to maintain throttle at rest to keep from stalling. BTW, I fat-fingered the VIN. It's 4XABA25C212477773. Thanks. Great forum.

there should be a brass flathead type screw on the outside of the carb to adjust pilot jet. you may want to pull the whole carb and give it a good scrubbing though, im betting it'll make the machine run much better overall.

Is this VIN at least in the correct length/format? I got ir right off of the frame. It's etched, or stamped, right behind the LF wheel.
