Think I maybe screwed VIN # issue
On my 96 Traiblazer the VIN was on the rail under the seat next to the model # sticker. The other day i was power washing the toy and the top layer of paint/metal in that area came off. Now I can't read the VIN at all.
So that means no more trail rides if i cant figure out a way to prove this unit is mine. By chance is the numbers stamped in more than one location on the frame? I looked all over and couldnt find it in any other location.

It should be stamped on a frame rail plate near the gear shifter or on the left side lower frame rail between the fender and pvt cover.

So are you saying it could be in two locations? Cause I know it was on the crossbar under the seat.

The serial number is stamped into the frame in one of the following locations:1996 models vin location 1) On the right side of the vehicle in front of the shift selector box. 2) Under the seat on the upper shock mount cross member.
On the right hand frame rail near the air box on a 1997 Model
On the left hand lower frame rail near the rear A-arm mount 1998 -Current Model
I have a 1995 Magnum 425 4x4 and the Model number is on a decal on the frame above the right front tire and the serial number is on a plate just in front of the shifter box.

Ok well mine was under the seat above the rear shock bar upon washing the vehicle i guess enough corosion had taken place and it stripped it off. The model sticker is still in place but i can not make out the VIN. I have checked by the shifter lever box and there is nothing there. I was really hoping it was stamped in two different locations but it appears that it had the possibility of being in two different locations but that they just stamp it on one or the other spots.
So i guess im screwed and now have no way to prove this unit is mine.

Do you have any paperwork on the machine that had the VIN on it?

try rubbing a tire crayon over the vin to possibly lift the number so it can be seen. As long has you have the title I don't see where you will have a problem. I would call the state revenue office(Thats what its called here, the place to go and get vehicle tags) and ask them about it.
