Newbie here, just bought a 2000 Trailblazer!!
Hi guys. Just bought a 2000 Trailblazer 250 on eBay for $850. The guy had winterized it and put it in storage for 6 years, and claims it has about 20 hours on it. He just pulled it out of storage, filled it with gas and it started right up. He is putting a new battery in for me, and it looked damn good in the pictures. His feedback was 100% positive, with over 200 transactions. Sounded like too good a deal to pass up. I pick it up Thursday night. What problems can I expect from a vehicle sitting for 6 years, even though he claims everything works right now. I have a 2005 Trailblazer that I bought new in 2008 from a dealer that went out of business, and the bike was still in the crate. The rear shock seal went in about 3 months, the carb was gummed up, and the starter failed prematurely, although I don't think the starter failed because the bike sat for 3 years.

That is a good deal as long as it's working as claimed!!!
A carb cleaning and fluids/filters change is what I would start with. Then throw in a new plug. Drain out The old fuel and oil tank, replace with new stuff and run at least a couple tanks treated with a good additive like SeaFoam.
Then get out there and enjoy your investment!

Well, I bought it off the guy's reputation (feedback) and the physical condition of the bike in the pics (plastics look really clean and not abused). I'm not all that mechanically inclined, so it is going to the mechanic this weekend, and I will do pretty much what you mentioned above, and I'll post hopefully some good news after I get it back..............or I'll be flipping it and hoping to get my $$ back. LOL!!! If all is good, I will start inquiring about mods to get a little more power. Thanks for the input.

Roger that.
It's only a250, but you will see it's a fun machine. I would say it's lacking on wide open trails and in the sand where WOT is common. But in the woods or slower trails it's a fun ride!! Not a slouch in power unless your used to hi horsepower sport quads. The two stroke builds power fast. Overall it's a nice machine.

I have a Can Am Outlander 800 Max, but it is big and bulky. On the straights it is awesome, but it is awkward, to say the least, on tight trails. The 2005 Trailblazer, which I share with one of my employees, is a blast to whip around in tight twisty trails, but since it is really for my worker, not me, it is completely stock. I've been told by others that the TB 250 with just an exhaust will give it a nice boost in power. Once I'm sure that this is a solid bike, and worth putting a little money into, I'd like to get it up to about 30 HP or so. I've read that stock they are about 22 HP. 8 HP on something this light would be noticeable, I think.

Very much so I would say!!!! It's not just 8 hp. Look at it this way.... It's a increase of nearly 40%!!!!!!

Good point!! 40% is huge. Well, I've read on Aaen Performance that their exhaust will give a 5 HP boost. Any pointers on exhaust. The HMF on my Can Am is awesome, and loud, which is how I like it!!

No sorry I don't. It's been almost thirty years since I played with a two stroke!! Lol
I wouldn't mind a pipe for more power on my 700. But loud is not what I want. Deep lo growl is good, think nice harley pipes But loud obnoxious blat isn't me.

I got the HMF Swamp because it's one of the only aftermarket pipes that does not require re-packing. And I like riding in water, not mud so much. Most aftermarket pipes require re-packing after 25 hours or so, and I can't be bothered with that. And once it gets wet, the packing is done. But a definite boost in power, and your 700 would definitely benefit from one. And the HMF Swamp comes in 2 versions, Swamp (96db) and Swamp XL (102 db), which is what I have. I have the silencer as well, so when I ride where noise can be an issue, I slip in the silencer and it is noticeably quieter.

I have seen them.. Mine is a EFI, (computer controlled) I am under the assumption I will need a programmer to get the full benefits form the pipe and free flow air filter... Any thoughts...
