Unhappy 04 Trail Blazer dont start

I decided to work on a family members 2004 Trail Blazer 250. They said befor it stoped running all together that it was bogging down pretty bad, then the starter when out. So I put a new starter and new battery on, checked the carb settings, it still didn't start. I've cleaned the carb out totally and check all the fuel and oil lines they all seem to be fine. I've checked the spark plug and cable, and it still don't start ! Anything I might have missed or any other ideas I should try ?

Well I'd keep it simple if it was me and go back to the basics... Checkfor compression, Check for fire and check for fuel. I know it sounds silly but the simplest test normally get overlooked. When you said you checked these items do you mean you visually inspected them or did you verify there is spark at the plug? Do you smell fuel like its flooding?

Everything I checked I made sure I checked correctly, I took all fuel lines off and made sure they had clean and proper flow as well as oil lines the spark plug smells like there maybe old gas in the motor. Is there any way to drain the motor?

There wont be much at all inside the motor, you can pull the plug and crank it over to blow it out or just leave the plugout for a few hours and it will dry out.

It has been sitting for awhile now! When I first took up this project I got it to start up or atlest come close to it for only a few seconds after trying all day, as soon as I hit the gas it seemed to bog itself out. Do you think it could be the oil pump since it mixes the gas itself before it goes to the motor, and if so can I take it off and clean it out?

The oil pump wouldnt keep it from starting, it would just cause the engine to seize up. If it was me id disconnect the fuel line and spray a little starting fluid in the carb and try to start it. it wontrun long that way but if it fires up then you at least know its fuel related.

nope not normal but you may have flooded it. ok You either got bad fuel, fuel filer carb issues or somethign internal going on. You really need to run a compression check because if its low then we are wasting you your time.
