2005 Trailblazer Reverse Issue

I picked up a 2005 Trailblazer 250 this past weekend. It is not in terrible condition but it has had a hard life. My question is in the transmission. It will go into Forward and Neutral but not Reverse. You can shift it into Reverse and it revs like it’s in reverse but does not move. There is no ticking or grinding in the trans when you shift into Reverse so I am hoping it is nothing major. Thanks for any help.

i would start with checking the shift linkage from the gear selector to the tranny. make sure everything is snug and looks and feels adjusted right. possibly the adjustment is off enough that when you put it into reverse at the grear selector, the shift linkage is pushing the shift arm on the tranny far enough to engage reverse inside

Thanks Blueline, I will have to check that. The odd thing is that the quad will not role when shifted into reverse almost like its in gear. The reverse indicater light even comes on.

Seems like a damaged cog,
OR
It could be its not engaged fully as the above poster suggested,
Tighten everything up, and or adjust the linkage, see how it fels after that,
