2001 Trailblazer 250 for 10 year old?
Hi everyone. I am looking to upgrade my oldest son's ATV. He is currently riding a Chinese 110 cc youth 4 wheeler. I want something that he can ride for several years, so I don't want to buy something too small. I just found a 2001 Trailblazer 250 for $1300 that has barely been ridden. The original tires are like new. It has a new battery and chain. It appears to be about the same size as my Mother in law's Sportsman 300. It also seems to be about the same size as a Phoenix 200. I'm thinking that this will be a good fit for him. Any suggestions? Does it seem like a good price? Thanks!

From a buyers standpoint,i'd see if i could get it cheaper,$1000. maybe. you don't want to insult the seller ,but the truth is that the older 2 strikes just don't hold there value, you can look these up on kelley blue book or nada and see for yourself. you should be able to buy it for halfway between retail and trade-in value.
the reality is ,that the 250's do last a long time and your son should be able to ride it ,probaly 3 years .before he outgrows it . if he can touch the floorboards now. take him with you when you go look at it and see how he looks on it.

Yeah after talking to a couple different people I think it will be a good size for him. I am thinking the price is a little high, but I doubt you could find a nicer one. It really looks like brand new. I have already talked to the selller and he will not go down from the $1300.

Those late 90's/early 2000's 2 strokes are good motors. They're tougher than people think. As long as it was well-maintained it should be a great quad for him. I'd offer $1000 cash, as he's not getting $1300 from anyone else, either.

I think that is a fair price. They go for that or more here.

I ended up buying it. He had it on Ebay and the bidding was up to 810. I emailed him and he said the reserve was set at 1300 same as the buy it now. He lived about 1-1/2 hours from me but was willing to bring it within a 1/2 hour of my house. I figured that was worth something! I looked around and couldn't find any cheaper than that.

As long as it's in good shape it will be a good quad. I had an Xpress 300 and that two stroke was a tank.

Thanks! It is his Birthday coming up soon. He already knows about it, but we are calling it his birthday present! I think I will get some new riding gear for him to open on his birthday.
