01 Trail Blazer Chain
I have a 01 Trail Blazer, when i get on the throttle and it starts to pick up speed I hear the chain skip a tooth. Would this be the chain being too loose or too tight? I checked the chain and it did not feel overly loose so should I tighten it more or loosen it some. I appreciate the assistance in this matter.

probably too loose. this is somewhat of a critical tension to get though. it will probably be worth your time to call your dealer and ask them how much freeplay should be in the chain....
if its too loose, it causes excessive premature wear on the sprockets and chain. the chain can also come off, and possibly wrap itselft around a tire or something
if its too tight, it causes excessive premature wear on the sprockets and chain....and, has a good chance of pulling the sprockets so much so, that the shaft they are on crushes the seal around it. mostly likely it would be the countershaft seal to get crushed and you would lose all of your gearcase fluid

Well i checked it and the book for my 03 Trail Boss and it says to have 3/16-3/8" of free play so I tightened it a lil bit.
Further inspecions shows the front sproket is starting to wear down a lil bit and needs to be replaced somewhat soon.
Bruce is there anywhere to ride up in that area I was actually up on Hurricane Ridge yesterday and was wondering if there was anywhere up there to ride.

Does it do it in reverse? If its not slipping on the drive sprockets it could be the silent chain inside the trans.
