Oil Injection Question

I just got my gf a 02 TB. We went riding all weekend. My question is I filled up the oil res. to the top and we rode for about 3 hours for two days. Used about 6 galls of gas. I checked the oil res at the end of the trip and it looks like very little oil was used. Is this normal for these machines? Also where does the oil overflow tube go. When I took the front cover off it was just twisted around some of the headlight wires.
Thanx for any help given.

polaris oil injection figures out to about 50 to 1,so yes it will not use much.

Plus at idle the figures are even leaner like 70:1.

Just take a gander at your oil pump and make sure the cable is adjusted properly. There are marks on the arm that should be aligned when the throttle is released (sitting static) some times the cable can stretch over time and needs to be re-adjusted. If you do adjust it make sure you also adjust your carburetor free play as well. You should do your oil pump first and then the carb.

4getful2, I am pretty new to atvs but I recently swithed my 04 trailblazer from injection to premix. I am running around 32:1. I did not notice any smoke or difference in performance. Am I running to rich? Should I mix at 50:1 like the injection? Thanks

CAtrailblazer, sounds pretty normal. They dont use much oil.

Whitejc4, you certainly are not going to hurt anything running 32:1 other then maybe fouling plugs quicker then normal and having to buy oil more often. 32:1 is a safe ratio for 2-strokes in general. It seems polaris does run leaner, and my guess is a 45:1 or 50:1 but im not for sure.

I tend to like to play it safe, so my .02 is to stick with the 32:1. Oil is cheaper to buy then an engine rebuild. Unless someone with a 250 trailblazer can confirm that they run 50:1 with no problems.

You can actually hurt your engine if you run too much oil. The oil can gum up the rings on the piston and cause them to stick which will kill your compression and send you down the rebuild express. Also keep in mind the more oil you have mixed in the gas the less gas there is in the carb, which will actually cause the engine to run too lean. Keep in mind these carbs are all setup to run with no oil in the gas. You need to adjust the carb properly for your leaner mixture. This will cause it to use even more oil.

Just some food for thought before you all disconnect your oil injection and and start premixing your gas.
