Question Please Help 1998 Trail Blazer Questions.

I Just Got Free A Trail Blazer. Cowel Says 1998 Manufacture Date.
It Will Not Start.
There Was No Gas In It, No Oil In The Front Oil TAnk, And No Key.
I Did Bypass The Key So It Should Start By The Pull Start Rope. But It Will Not.
I Just Wanted To See It Run For A Min Or Two Before Ordering A New Key And Switch.
What Oil Do I Use In The Oil TAnk?
What Type GAs Runs Best 87,93,98 Or Non Ethinal?
Also Is There Any Other Specal Things To Do To Get It Running As Well As Keep It Running?
Thank you.

how long has it not been running for?

please, do not pull start it until you get oil in that tank, and honestly, you should bleed it all the way to the oil pump. you could have siezed that motor in only a few seconds had it started with no oil in the tank. get a synethic 2-stroke oil. doesnt need to be fancy.

87 octane is fine, a non-ethanol is best.

you are probably going to have to clean the carb, replaces the jets, probably replace the needle valve, inspect the needle, and inspect the floats. The tank will also probably need to be cleaned out.

my suggestion is to, in this order.

get 2-stroke oil in the tank and bleed it through to the pump.

fill tank with gas, add 2-stroke oil to gas somewhere around a 40:1 or 45:1 ratio....(at this point, we would rather have too much oil and foul a plug then sieze the top end. especially since we dont know if the oil pump is still working. incase its not, at least you still have oil in the fuel. it will be clear by how much smoke you get if the oil pump is working or not)

take airbox lid off

okay now, i recommend getting a buddy and a bottle of brake cleaner, contact cleaner, starter fluid, or ether. before pull starting, make sure the quad is in neutral, and set the parking brake.

give it two or three pushes on the throttle, wide open and back. there is an accelerator pump that squirts a little bit of fuel everytime you open the throttle up, too many pushes on the throttle, you will flood it.

have a buddy spray a shot of (1 second) brake cleaner ect. into the air filter. as soon as he stops spraying, start pulling.

if it wont at least fire up doing that, you are going to have to start tearing it apart.

good luck
