97 300 Intermittent start issues

Hello everyone, this is my second post. (first was in the introduction section)

I spent the day looking over my newly acquired Polaris. I have been having trouble with starting the bike.

I took the carb out today and replaced all the components with the rebuild kit I ordered. Replaced the spark plug, ensured it was getting spark and gapped correctly. Finally, I charged the battery.

When running, the bike pulls hard and runs great. NO missing, or sputtering at full throttle.

The problem is, the bike will die if it is allowed to idle for a couple minutes. Also, if I come to a hard stop the bike dies. In both instances, it is impossible to get started again. However, if it sits for 30 minutes or more, it will fire right back up.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

mkeddie- Yes it ran fine before, as it does now once it gets started. It was doing this starting thing prior to the rebuild. I thought maybe the floats were sticking and the jets were clogged.

It is random. One time the starter will work, then it wont. One time the pull star will work, then it wont. When it does fire up, it is instantly. Hit the starter and boom, it is running like a champ. When it doesnt work, it sounds like I am going to burn the starter up.

If the carb has been gone through, what could be causing the flooding if that is the issue.

Ignition. Check the wire to the plug with a voltmeter. Move it all around while checking. Other than that look for wire with no insulation and test every one involved with ignition, including grounds. If that proves to be fine, then replace the cdi. The fact that it acts up when hot and works again when cold is a tell tale sign of ignition/wiring.
