hello im new to ATVs And I have a 1999 Polaris Trailboss 250 and im trying to figure out how to Replace the starter on it. if anyone knows can you please help me out thanks:smile:smile:smile
My son in law has a '90 trail boss 250. Should be the same engine. I know the starter is on the bottom at the rear of the engine. I will see if I can get his book for an idea on how to do it. His was blown up so we had the engine out at the time it was here.
I looked it up in the Clymer Manual. His manual only covers '85 to '95 but I can't imagine they changed the engine design. As I suspected you will have to take the clutches off and remove the inner clutch cover. The bolts that hold the starter to the crankcase are behind the recoil starter. So the starter unbolts from the right side and is removed from the left side.
thank you very much i will get to work tomorrow and get back to you
