ADC fluid change

Hey gang,

Gearing up to change the ADC fluid in my 2010 550XP for the first time. Instructions appear pretty straight forward. I believe I found the bleeder valves on the front drive case, but am I correct in that the bleeder valves are directed upward? I'm looking at a black valve cap on each side of the front drive case, both of which point up?

I ask cuz I kinda thought the valves would point downard to allow easier draining of the fluid.

Also, for the clear tubing, does the tubing need to fit snub on the bleeder valve for it work, or is it just to make it easier and less of a mess?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Cheers,
JG

You are correct, those are the blessed valves. I'm not sure what clear tubing you are referring to. The blessed valves are just to let the air out. You fill at the cap under the front rack.

Perfect! The tubing is too place over the nipple on the valve to watch the fluid drain from. Probably not needed, but the service manual states to do this to make it easy to see when clean fluid begins to flush our any contaminated fluid (if present). I'm sure I'm just making it harder than needed....

Thanks for the reply.

Cheers,
JG

Where did you get your tubing from?

Got mine from The Home Depot. I started to loosen the bleeder valve, then place the tubing over the small nipple on top of the valve. It may have took a little longer to drain the fluid, but it was much easier to direct the fluid into a catch pan, plus I could get a good look at the fluid as it drained out to check for discoloration or containments.

I think the tubing was about 3 bucks for 10' or so. I've got extra if you want me to send you some. Don't reckon it take much to send it via the USPS.

Cheers,
JG

Sure, I can paypal you a couple bucks.

Well, what did you find when you changed the fluid?
How many miles on your machine?
Did it look bad?

sorry dude... didn't mean for you to pay for it. I'll just throw it in the mail. PM your address and I'll drop it off this week.

Regarding the second half of your post...

-The fluid for the ADC was very clear and pure looking. I could see no visible signs on contamination or dis-coloring like I saw in my rear and front driveline fluids that I changed this weekend. I've got about 280 miles is all, but I tend to change out my fluids more often than what is suggested. I tend to hit the grease zerks often too (some of which are a pain in the arse on these machines).
